Abstract (EN)
Gediz is one of the oldest settlements which host many civilizations and it is mentioned with its historical artifacts and natural resources.In this study I tried to investigate the social life in Gediz. The govermental, economic, demographic, military, social and cultural structures are discussed. The resources in Prime Ministry Archives and Ottoman Archives are used. These resources are examined elaborately and the data concerning the area evaluated.Dividend books are anolyzed form the basis of this study. Dividend boks of the years 1260-1261 (1844-1845) were transcribed, data is analyzed in detail and presentedin tables and graphics. According to data, names, jobs, taxation, agricultural output, animal types, sphere of actvity etc. Evaluated in details in view of income distribution.In the light of all these evaluations, information related to social and economic life in Gediz is presented.Keywords: Gediz, The Ottoman Archives, Dividend Books, Neighborhood, Social Life.
