Abstract (EN)

In our country, many language teachers experience different kinds of realities, and they have to deal with so many aspects of teaching in their daily lives. In this study, external factors affecting foreign language teachers' demotivation are discussed in terms of students, managers, workload and working hours, overall materials, and the facilities of the school that they are currently working at. Interviews were conducted with 37 teachers working in state universities, and semi-structured forms were used as the data collection tool. The data analyzed via content and descriptive analysis and the important parts of the data were quoted directly. As a result, the most demotivating factor of the study group is the student factor. The other factors affecting teachers' demotivation levels are as following: managers behaviors towards the teachers, their workload working hours and extracurricular activities, facilities, and the materials. For further research, demotivating factors can be studied independently, many case studies can be conducted and possible solutions to these problems can be addressed.
