Grammatical problems Uyghur students encounter when they learn Turkey Turkish within the scope of teaching Turkish to foreigners

This study concentrates on the grammatical problems the Uyghur students encounter while they learn Turkey Turkish. While this being done, firstly topic and purpose of the study is stated, then methodology of the study is specified and lastly results are examined thoroughly in the light of scientific data. In the first part of the first chapter the focus is Uyghurs' history, civilization and literature. In the second part Uyghurs' recent history, certain migrations among which migrations to Turkey are examined in detail from certain angles are addressed. In the third part the place of the Uyghur Turkish among other Turkish dialects and its history are examined. In the fourth part, the current situation of East Turkistan, which is an autonomous structure within the borders of China today, is discussed. In the second chapter, the grammar of New Uyghur Turkish is outlined with the main lines. New Uighur Turkish and Turkey Turkish are compared in terms of sound and shape (morphology). In addition to that, similar and common words are shown. In this way in this chapter, closeness between the Uyghur Turkish and the Turkey Turkish is demonstrated. In the third chapter, what kinds of difficulties and conveniences this closeness and differences between the Uyghur Turkish and the Turkey Turkish lead to is examined on the basis of more than a hundred Uyghur students studying at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Foundation University. This examination is done through these students' essay papers and speaking exams, linguistically -that is, in terms of knowledge phonology, of morphology, of vocabulary and of expression abilities. In this evaluation, mistakes arising from words with false equivalence characteristics, confusion and misspelling of similar words, and other expression errors are classified separately and shown on examples. That common words, phrases and expressions between the Uyghur Turkish and the Turkey Turkish do not always have the same meaning and that this point is not sufficiently dwelled upon during teaching process lie behind problems the Uyghur students encounter while learning Turkish. The conclusion chapter concentrates on these results and based on these results attempts to suggest some points that should be taken into consideration by the teacher and the school in order to overcome these problems.
