Validity and reliability of Turkish version of the burn specific pain anxiety scale

This study was conducted to adapt the Burn Specific Pain Anxiety Scale into Turkish and test its validity and reliability. The study was conducted between April 2016 and July 2017 in Cukurova University Medical Faculty Balcalı Hospital and Adana Numune Education and Research Hospital was carried out methodologically. The population of the study consists of patients hospitalized in burns unit between these dates. The study was conducted with totally 50 burn patients who met the inclusion criteria and were voluntary to participate in the study. Language, content, and construct validities and reliability analysis were in the validity and reliability analysis. The language validity of the Scale of Burn Specific Pain Anxiety to Turkish Society was analyzed by using translation-back translation method and its content validity was conducted through expert opinions. As a result of the explanatory factor analysis (0,727-0,910) , it was found that the scale had a single factor structure and its factor loadings were in a convenient interval. As a result of the confirmatory factor analysis was found its fit indexes were appropriate. As a result of the internal consistency analysis of the scale, the item total point correlations (0,59-0,96) were found to be sufficient and the Cronbach alpha coefficient was 0,95. It was found that the Turkish version of Scale of Burn Specific Pain Anxiety is a valid and reliable assessment tool. Keywords: Burn Patients, Pain, Anxiety, Reliability, Validity.
