Abstract (EN)
"If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration." based on the words of Nikola Tesla, this thesis aims to obtain minimum weight of planar/space trusses and planar/space frames using modified JAYA (MJA) and adaptive JAYA algorithms (AJA) under natural frequency constraints. Metaheuristic optimization methods have been implemented as efficient tools for solving complicated optimization problems over the last four decades. JA algorithm (JA) is among the most popular metaheuristic methods which have been developed recently. Jaya means "Victory" in Sanskrit. The algorithm is based on the concept that the solution obtained for a given optimization problem which should move toward the best solution and must avoid the worst solution. The proposed MJA and AJA algorithms for planar/space truss and planar/space frame structures. The optimum designs are also analyzed by SAP2000 V23 (2021) structural analyses software and hence, the results found by propoced algorithms are verified by a reliable software. The performance of MJA and AJA is tested on seven truss structures and five steel frame structures, which have previously been optimized by using different metaheuristic optimization methods. The results obtained by the proposed methods are compared to each other and other optimization methods in terms of optimum weight and number of structural analyses. Several statistical parameters such as average weight, worst weight and standard deviation are also reported in the design examples. The comparisons prove that AJA could find lighter designs with less computational effort than MJA, standard JA and other optimization methods in the literature.
