The relationship between life positions and the dark directions of personality

In this research, it's been aimed to be investigated the relationship between life positions and dark directions of personalities of university students. Relational screening model is used in this quantitive research study. The study group of the research consists of 307 university students who study in Konya involving 246 females (%80.1) and 61 males (%19.9). "Personal Information Form", "Life Positions Scale", "Dark Triad Dirty Dozen Scale", "Spitefulness Scale" and "Selfishness Scale" are used in order to collect data in the study. SPSS 21.00 package programme is used for the analysis of data collected in the study. The Pearson Correlation Coefficient is used to determine the relationship between variables; the Multiple Linear Regression (MLR) is used to determine the relation between predictor variables and the Independent Sample T-Test and the One-Way Analysis of Variance is used to determine life positions of university students, dark triad personality characteristics and selfishness levels in terms of socio-demographic factors. According to the results of study, life positions of university students show greatly differentitaion towards gender, class level, the faculty in which they study, number of siblings and socio-economic status. While university students' dark triad characteristics (Machiavellism, psychopathy and narsisism) show greatly differentitaion in terms of gender, class level and the faculty in which they study, they don't show differentitaion in terms of number of siblings. While university students' spitefulness shows greatly differentitaion in terms of gender, it doesn't show greatly differentitaion in terms of class level, the faculty in which they study, number of siblings and socio-economic status. While university students' selfishness shows greatly differentitaion in terms of the faculty in which they study, it doesn't show greatly differentitaion in terms of gender, class level, number of siblings and socio-economic status. Meaningful correlation has been found out between some sub-dimensions of life positions of university students and sub-dimensions of their dark triad characteristics. Life positions predict greatly dark triad personality characteristics. Meaningful correlation has been found out between some sub- dimensions of life positions of university students and spitefulness. Life positions predict greatly spitefulness. Meaningful correlation has been found out between some sub-dimensions of life positions of university students and selfishness and its sub-dimensions. Life positions predict greatly selfishness.
