Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine the motivation of students participating in summer sports schools to participate in sports. The general survey model was used as the research model. The research group consists of students who attend summer sports schools and voluntarily agree to participate in the research with the consent of their families. The "Participation Motivation Questionnaire" developed by Oyar, Aşçı, Çelebi, and Mülazımoğlu (2001) was used as a data collection tool. Scale scores were analyzed depending on the gender, age, and participation time of the students (sports age). While the research population totaled 6420 people, the sample group included 765 people who volunteered to participate. The IBM SPSS 25 (Statistical Package for Social Science) package program was used to evaluate the data. The Mann-Whitney U test was used for pairwise comparisons because the raw data obtained from the scales did not exhibit normal distribution during the statistical process. The significance level was taken as "p<0,05" in all tests. As a result of these analyses, it has been determined that there is a difference in favor of female students in the "Friendship" sub-dimension of the gender variable. It was found that there was a difference in the sub-dimensions of "Team Membership/Spirit", "Friendship" and "Competition" between groups depending on the age variable. Finally, according to the age of sports, it was concluded that there was a significant difference in the sub-dimensions of "Skill Development", "Team Membership/Spirit", "Physical Fitness/Energy Expenditure", "Movement/Activity" and "Competition".
