The competency of lifelong learning of trainees in adult education

The basic aim of this research is to determine the competency level of lifelong learning of trainees in adult education, it is intended to investigate levels related with gender, age, marriage, education, participation to official or private educational courses, and their durational features. In this research a general survey model is used. The data were formulated on the base of students taken education in the ISMEK courses located in Fatih district, Istanbul in 2017/18 years. The total number of students was 246, female 134, male 112. Data were taken by using the ''Lifelong Learning Scale for Competency'' inquiry designed by the researcher and her advisor. The main results of the investigation are as follows. The level of the Lifelong Learning Competency is significantly high, and highest value is observed in the native language, whereas the weakest value was in foreign languages. The competency generally has weak relationships with marriage states and durational characteristics of the courses, and has significant influences related with gender, age, education, and training in the courses. Between all subdimensions of the lifelong learning the strong positive relationships of the weak, middle and high levels were observed.
