Abstract (EN)
Obesity has become a major health problem which is constantly increasing all over the world. Nutrition is the main cause of obesity, although it also forms the basis of various diseases. This research was conducted to analyze the relationship between nutritional status, sleep quality and profile of blood lipid of 150 women who visited the nutrition and diet outpatient clinic in a private hospital located in Afyon. General information of the participants, dietary habits, frequency and records of food consumption, survey of Pittsburgh sleep quality index were acquired by face to face interview, and blood biochemistry test was requested from the participants. Glucose, total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein (LDL) and high density lipoprotein (HDL) values were checked from the blood test results. The average age of the participants that were participating to the study was 35.3+8.90 years old. The average of BMI was found as 24.5 kg/m2. The average of total energy taken daily is 1592.8±381,62 kcal. According to the Pittsburgh sleep quality index, 28.7% of the participants were to have a poor sleep quality, and 71.3% of the participants to have a good sleep quality. There is no significant relationship was found between the socio demographic characteristics and sleep quality of the participants (p>0.05). On the other hand, there is a significant positive relationship between the BMI and blood lipid values of the participants (p:0,001; r:0,390, p:0,001; r:0,365, p:0,001; r:0,456, p:0,001; r:0,364). When there is an increase in BMI values, there is also an increase blood lipid values at the same percentage (p:0,048; p:0,001; p:0,030; p:0,002). As the BMI value increased, a significant increase in sleep duration was determined (p<0.05). As a result, with an increase in body mass index, deterioration in blood value and decrease in sleep duration are observed. Our study supports previous studies, and there should be more studies on the subject.
