Abstract (EN)
The research was conducted semi-experimentally in the pre-test-post-test design in order to determine the effect of safe blood and blood products transfusion training given to intensive Care nurses on nurses' knowledge and attitudes. The study was completed with 166 nurses were working in Kahramanmaraş Sütçü Imam University Training and Research Hospital in intensive care units and approved to participate in the research. The data were collected by the form, which was created by the researcher, by searching the literature, contained the questions about determining nurses' characteristics, their knowledge and attitudes about safe blood and blood product transfusion nursing intervention. In the questionnaire, each question was given 2.5 points, and in total 40 questions were evaluated over 100 points. The nurses were participated 45 minutes of training one month later after the blood and blood product transfusion training was completed, the nurses were post-tested. Whether the data are suitable for normal distribution was evaluated by Shapiro-Wilk test. In pre-test and post-test comparisons, Paired Sample T test and Wilcoxon test were used. Mann Whitney U Test, Kruskal Wallis Test, One way Anova and Post Hoc-Tamhane's T2 tests were used to determine the difference between the groups. The statistical evaluation of the data was done with SPSS 22.0 package program. p <0.05 was considered statistically significant. It was found that 48.8% of the intensive care nurses participating in the study were between 21-25 years old, 62.7% were women, 53.6% were married, 52.4% were bachelor degree graduates, and 56% of the total working time was 1-5 years. It was determined that the intensive care nurses had mean score of blood and blood product transfusion before training was 60.25 ± 8.92, increased to 78.17 ± 8.19 after training, and this difference was statistically significant (p <0.001). It was found that ICU nurses increased their knowledge about blood and blood product transfusion after the training. It is recommended to increase the in-service trainings prepared in the light of the current guides on blood and blood product transfusion of nurses, to apply different training models in trainings, to conduct observatory studies, to work more effectively and efficiently in the blood transfusion committee in institutions.
