Evaluation of patient privacy knowledge level of nurses work in intensive care clinics

This descriptive and cross-sectional study; It was conducted between April 15 - June 15, 2018 to determine the level of knowledge of nurses in the intensive care clinics of Sivas Cumhuriyet University Application and Research Hospital on patient privacy. The sample of the study consists of 105 nurses working in the intensive care unit and voluntarily participating in the study. In the study, data were collected with the help of a questionnaire. The questionnaires used consist of two parts. The personal information form was used in the first part of the questionnaire and the Patient Privacy Scale was used in the second part. SPSS (23.0) package program was used to evaluate the data. Since the data did not provide a normal distribution, analyzes were made with non-parametric tests. In the results of working; It was found that the privacy scale personal information security / privacy of private life sub-dimension mean score of nurses who read the declaration of patient rights was higher than those who did not read it. It was recommended to establish privacy violation and follow-up systems in the hospital, and to continue patient rights and privacy trainings within the scope of patient safety in accordance with institutional and health quality standards Keywords: Nurse, Intensive Care, Patient, Privacy
