Abstract (EN)

This cross-sectional, comparative study was carried out to determine the relationship between sociodemographic-descriptive characteristics, sexual quality of life scale scores and burnout scale scores in intensive care nurses and clinic nurses. It was aimed to reach the whole universe, which was not selected as a sample for the study. The research was carried out with married female nurses working in the clinic and intensive care units of Dışkapı Yıldırım Beyazıt Training and Research Hospital between 01 May 2021 and 01 July 2021, who accepted the study. The universe of the study was determined as 220 female nurses, including 78 intensive care nurses and 142 clinic nurses. Ethics Committee approval and necessary permissions were obtained in order to carry out the study. The data of the study were collected with the "Socio-Demographic/Descriptive Characteristics Form", "Maslach Burnout Scale" and "Sexual Quality of Life Scale-Female Form (CYKÖ-F)". In order to define the socio-demographic characteristics of women, mean ± standard deviation and median (minimum-maximum) were given for quantitative variables, and the number of patients (percentage) for qualitative variables. The conformity of the scale scores to the normal distribution was evaluated with the Kolmogorov Smirnov test. If the obtained data are provided with normal distribution assumptions, Student-t and One Way ANOVA test; If the normal distribution assumptions are not met, it was evaluated using Mann Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis H tests. Chi-square and Fisher Exact tests were used to examine the relationship between two categorical variables. The validity and reliability analysis of the scales was checked and the amount of correlation (cronbach's alpha) was determined in the relations of the scales with each other. The statistical significance level for the tests performed was accepted as 0,05 The nurses participating in our study are between the ages of 23 - 54. It was determined that the average age of the nurses was 33,71±7,57. In our study, the mean score of the Maslach Burnout Scale of the service nurses was 49,49±9,19. Service nurses' Maslach Burnout Scale ''emotional exhaustion sub-dimension'' mean score is 22,00±6,28, ''depersonalization sub-dimension'' mean score is 7,58±4,05 and ''personal achievement sub-dimension'' mean score It is 19,91±3,50. The mean score of the 'Sexual Life Quality Scale' of the service nurses included in the study was 63,01±11,51. In our study, the mean score of the Maslach Burnout Scale of the intensive care nurses was 52,59±7,40. Intensive care nurses' Maslach Burnout Scale ''emotional exhaustion sub-dimension'' mean score was 24,88±5,47, ''depersonalization sub-dimension' mean 9,29±3,30 and ''personal achievement sub-dimension'' score the mean is 18,41±2,99. The mean score of the "Sexual Life Quality Scale" of the intensive care nurses included in the study was 53,51±10,21. It has been determined that the intensive care nurses, who participated in our study, who have an advanced age group, who have a low level of education, who are married for 10 years or more, who have children, who work in shifts and more than 40 hours a week, who are assigned by the management decision in their unit and have insufficient number of nurses in their working unit have high Burnout Scale scores and low Sexual Life Quality score (p<0,05). It has been determined that the nurses who work in day shifts, who prefer the unit they are in, who are satisfied with their profession, who have a high education level and who have a nuclear family structure have lower burnout levels and a better sexual life quality. In the study, it was found that as the 'Maslach Burnout Scale' scores of the nurses increased, the Sexual Life Quality Scale scores decreased. As a result, in our study, it was determined that as the burnout levels of intensive care nurses increased, their sexual life quality decreased.
