Abstract (EN)

The research was planned in the descriptive, relationship-seeking in order to determine the environmental stressor and individualized care perceptions of intensive care patients. The sample of the research consisted of 190 patients who had been receiving care and treatment for at least 24 hours and were 18 years of age and older, and were eligible for inclusion in the study in the intensive care units of a city hospital in Manisa. In data collection, "Patient Information Form", "Intensive Care Unit Environmental Stressors Scale (ICU-ESS)", and "Individualized Care Scale-B (ICS-B)" were used. The mean age of the patients was 62.52±13.17 years, 51.1% (n=97) were female, the mean length of stay in the intensive care unit was 1.28±0.45 days, 42.6% (n=81) in the 2nd level intensive care unit, and 35.8% (n=68) of them were found to be hospitalized in the intensive care unit due to heart and vascular diseases. The mean total score of ICU-ESS for patients was 109.27±19.19, and the mean score of ICS-B was 2.64±0.81. It was found that the mean item scores of ICS-B subscales were "Decision Making Control" (3.05±0.92), "Clinical Condition" (2.85±1.15), and "Personal Life Situation" (1.65±0.91). It was determined that some individual and disease characteristics affected these score averages. It was found there was a very weak, negative, correlation between the the mean total score of ICU-ESS for patients and the mean total score, "Clinical Condition", and "Decision Making Control" item scores of ICS-B (p <0.05). In conclusion, it was observed that patients' perceptions of environmental stressors were above average, perceptions of individualized care were moderate, and there was a negative correlation between them, and some individual and disease characteristics affected these perceptions.
