The fruit of Lycium barbarum, goji berry contains a lot of bioactive metabolites and is widely used as a functional food and natural remedy.It is stated that may be effective in the treatment of obesity. Fort this purpose, this study was investigate effect of goji berry fruit extract on serum lipids, Alanine aminotransferase (AST), asparta aminotransferase (ALT), glucose and insülin levels in rats fed high fat diyet.40 wistar albino rats were divided into four groups with 10 rats in each group.The first group Control group (KG) was fed with standard pellet feed, the second group, high fed diyet (YYD) was fed with 100 g of pellet feed and 45 g of butter mixed with feed, the third group YYD extract group (YYDE) mg / kg) group fed goji berry extract (100 mg/kg) and high fed diyetand fourth group fed with goji berry extract (100 mg / kg).At the end of the 8-week experiment, the rats were sacrificed and the sera of the centrifuged blood were separated.Serums were stored at -20 ° C until the working day. sera were studiedAST, ALT, Triglyceride, Total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, Insulin and Glucose levels. Triglycerides, cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels were found to be significantly higher in rats fed high fat diyet compared to the control group.The application of goji berry to the group fed high-fat diyet significantly decreased triglycerides, cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels and brought them closer to the control group.At the same time, while fed with high-fat diyet increased weight gain, goji berry application significantly reduced weight gain.As a result, the application of goji berry extract can be effective in treatment obesity by reducing serum lipids and preventing weight gain.
