Abstract (EN)

However human being forces his mind in order to understand the universe, the span of history forms as a way of the field of the divinity loses its position against laicity. As the mind in the field of material develops in laicity?s favors, secular mind has been the predicate of art and science.At this point, the improvements which help to come out modernist novel are investigated for the theoretical aspect of the study. The theoretical part of the study include the assessment of modernism and its reflection on art after the developments such as the Renaissance, the Reform, the Age of Enlightment, the Industry Revolution which provide a good environment for modernism and modernist novel?s coming out.Later, the shape of the modernist novel that all the developments have come out, the content instruments and the functionality of these instruments in Yusuf Atılgan?s novels are analyzed.The novels which are the subject of our study are studies using the content instruments alienation, suicide, Freudian Elements, Sisyhpos Complex, psychopathological situations, archetypes, and the death of the characters.The novels are also examined with the instruments the stream of consciousness, alienation effect, brainstorming, inner speech, montage/collage, leitmotiv, intertextuality, narrator/view point, place and time.Concerning the study of the novels with the mentioned instruments, firstly definitive information about the tools is given, then why these tools need to be used as analyzing instruments in a modernist novel is explained, and finally how these tools are included in our novels which are the subject of our study and their effectiveness is displayed.Keywords: Modernism, novel, modernist novel, Yusuf Atılgan.
