Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of different interval training methods applied in water on body composition and technical parameters of swimmers. A total of 20 volunteer swimmers between the ages of 11 and 12, whose sports age is at least 1 year, participated in this research. Participants were randomly divided into two groups as HIIT group (High Intensity Interval Training + swimming technical training) and Endurance group (Endurance + swimming technical training). Experimental method with pre-test and post-test design was used in the study, and body composition, technical parameters, swimming performance, perceived difficulty level and heart rate values of HIIT and Endurance groups were measured twice, before and after the 8-week training program. The obtained data were analyzed using the IBM SPSS version 22 statistical analysis program. Normality analysis was tested with the Shapiro-Wilk Test and it was determined that the data showed normal distribution. Paired Samples t-test was used for intragroup comparisons and Independent Samples t-test was used for intergroup comparisons. The significance level for all data was accepted as p<0.05 and p<0.01. It is seen that there are significant and positive decreases in the posttest averages of the HIIT group in terms of stroke length, skinfold thickness and swimming performances compared to the AZD pretest perceived at 50 m and 100 m. It was determined that there were significant positive decreases and increases in body weight, height, stroke rate, stroke length, skinfold thickness, swimming performances of the DA group in 50 m, 100 m and 2000 m KAS and 50 m, 100 m, 2000 m AZD averages in favor of the posttest. In the comparisons between the groups, significantly different positive decreases were obtained in favor of the DA group according to the KU, KO, and skinfold thickness 2000 m KAS, 50 m, 100 m and 2000 m AZD swimming performance post-test averages. Endurance training has a different effect on body composition, technical parameters, swimming performance, AZD and MUSCLE variables in 11-12 age group children. It is recommended that DA group trainings be preferred more. Keywords: Endurance, HIIT, Performance, Swimming, Training.
