Abstract (EN)

This study has been prepared in order to determine the effects of those participating in tourism activities on the gross domestic product according to the purpose of their visit. Within the scope of the study, first of all, the literature was examined. Afterwards, a conceptual study was carried out with the titles of tourism economy. In the research, examinations were made according to the visit purposes determined by the "Turkish Statistical Institute" of the tourists coming to Turkey. When the data of the Turkish Statistical Institute were examined, it was seen that the types of tourism in Turkey were grouped under 7 main headings. The data set was created by taking the values of the relevant tourism types between 2003 and 2021. The values in the data set are considered quarterly. The main starting point of the research is to reveal which types of visits and what kind of investments should be made in the long term, by taking into account the areas where tourists coming to Turkey spend and the periods they spend, and to adapt this to the Turkish tourism sector by comparing it with other successful policies. In addition, it aims to develop the country's tourism and spread tourism activities over 12 months by making periodic arrangements for each type of tourism with the policies produced. First of all, the stationarity test was applied to the data collected within the scope of the research. The Phillips-Perron test, which is one of the most used unit root tests in the literature, was chosen for stationarity. After the stationarity test, the VAR model was established with the relevant data. Afterwards, Johansen cointegration analysis was performed in order to examine the long-term relationships among the data. After the cointegration analysis, Granger causality test was performed to determine the direction of the relationship between the variables. As a result of the research, suggestions have been developed for the tourism sector and decision makers in the tourism sector.
