Biology teachers' evaluation of the 10th grade biology textbook

Abstract (EN)

In this Study, the sufficiency and suitability of 10th grade biology textbook for students in terms of learning outcomes, visual design, learning activities, preparatory work, evaluation activities and content knowledge dimensions were investigated based of biology teachers' views The study was designed as a mixed research approach, in which both quantitative and qualitative research approaches are used together. The participants were 74 biology teachers working for the Ministry of National Education in public and private schools in Diyarbakır between 2020-2021. The data was collected by using interviews consisting of 7 items and a 5-point likert-type scale consisting of 24 items. The data was analysed by using SPSS 28 analysis program. The findings of the study did not reveal any statistically significant difference among biology teachers' views based on the textbook dimensions investigated. Likewise, the study did not find any statistically significant significant difference among biology teachers' views based on their the school they were working. Although, the participant biology teachers in made positive evaluations about the 10th class biology textbook, they also suggested that the content of the textbook should be simplified and the number of learning outcomes and evaluation questions should be increased.
