Abstract (EN)
The Byzantine Empire was constantly exposed to foreign powers during the eleven centuries. Diplomatic relations were that masterfully directed by Byzantine Empire, which fought ceaselessly both in the east and in the west, is the main cause of survived for such a long time. Political marriages that one of these diplomatic relations, constitute the main theme of thesis. In the first chapter, the perception and types of politics in Byzantium were introduced; after that it was analyzed how a woman continued her life in Byzantine social life. For instance; marriage, divorce, cheating, homeworks, business life and the order of monastery etc. In the second and third chapters, the education of Byzantine empress, the position of her in the court rituals and the importance of her in politics are explained. Finally, they were analyzed with examples of what the empress had a role in the history for four centuries.
