Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between suicide probability, family belonging and spiritual well-being of individuals aged 18-25. Correlational research model, one of the quantitative research methods, was used in the study. The sample of the study consists of individuals between the ages of 18-25 in Istanbul. The data collection tools of the study are Personal Information Form, Suicide Probability Scale, Family Belonging Scale and Spiritual Well-Being Scale. The data were analyzed with t-test for independent groups to determine the differences between groups. Pearson Correlation Coefficient was used for the relationship between variables and regression-based mediation macro (Process Model 4) was applied to analyze the direct and indirect roles of variables in mediation analysis. In line with the findings obtained, while the suicide probability and family belonging of individuals aged 18-25 did not vary according to their gender, spiritual well-being was found to be higher in women. The employment status of the parents of individuals aged 18-25 was analyzed in two ways: mother's and father's employment. While there was no statistically significant difference in family belonging and suicide probability according to the mother's employment status, a statistically significant difference was found in spiritual well-being. Accordingly, participants whose mothers were not working had higher spiritual well-being. While there was no statistically significant difference in spiritual well-being and suicide probability according to the employment status of the father, a statistically significant difference was found in family belonging. Accordingly, participants whose fathers were employed had higher levels of family belonging. According to the marital status of the parents of individuals aged 18-25, there was no statistically significant difference in spiritual well-being; however, a statistically significant difference was found in family belonging and suicide probability. Accordingly, participants with parents who are in a marital union have higher family belonging and lower suicide probability. Family belongingness of individuals aged 18-25 predicted suicide probability significantly and negatively both directly and in total. The indirect effect of family belongingness on suicide probability in the presence of spiritual well-being, which is the mediating variable, was also found to be significant.
