Listening comprehension is a fundamental skill in language learning, but it is challenging for most foreign language learners. Visual discourse provides great support for language learners to improve their listening comprehension skills. Proving this support of visual discourse, this study discusses the effect of visuals in improving the listening comprehension skills of EFL learners at Ondokuz Mayıs University and their disposition towards the use of visuals in English Listening Skills Classes. An experimental research design was used in this study. The sample consisted of 50 students (25 in the experimental group and 25 in the control group). The students in the experimental group were given listening activities with visual discourse, while the students in the control group were given the same activities without visual discourse. The study lasted for 10 lesson hours and after each listening activity, the students in the experimental group were given Students' Disposition Scale. The data were analyzed using Independent Sample t-test and Mann-Whitney U test on R programming. As a result of the analysis of the data obtained, it was seen that the students who participated in the listening activity with visual discourse in the experimental group were more successful than the students in the control group, showing a statistically significant difference. In addition, the Students' Disposition Scale results showed that the students found the use of visuals in listening classes very supportive. These findings highlight that both students and teachers should be aware of visual literacy and the use of visuals in foreign language classrooms should be prioritized due to their significant contribution to comprehension of verbal input.
