A survey on arabesque culture in Turkish cinema between the years 1970?2000

The main purpose of this study is to present by means of characters, relationships of the characters with the environment, attitudes and behaviors of the characters and dialogues imposed to characters; how the arabesque culture as a living style and as a life perception style is reflected directly or indirectly to Turkish cinema between the years 1970?2000. Accordingly, first of all, the first usage styles of the concept and the etymological meaning of the word ?arabesque? are tried to be determined; then the response or responses to the word arabesque and arabesque culture concept in Turkey are tried to be presented. The description of arabesque culture made by different researchers are examined, starting from this point of view inclusive descriptions are tried to be obtained concerning arabesque culture as a perception of life and living. Depiction of life and living perception styles pointed out by arabesque culture descriptions are tried to be made by means of characters, environments and dialogues with sociological criticism method by means of the films as; ?Canım Kardeşim? (1973), ?Sultan? (1978), ?Banker Bilo? (1980), ?Muhsin Bey? (1987), ?Düttürü Dünya? (1988), ?Üçüncü Sayfa? (1999) and which life and thought styles correspond to the arabesque culture is tried to be found out by means of these abovementioned sample films.
