20th century art of the interaction of technology

The aim of this dissertation is to investigate the effects of technology in terms of practice and content to 20th century art. Due to its capability of 'copying' and its strong impact on all the artistic practices, yet most strongly about painting, emphasis is given to photography. Started with photography, the depreciation of the value of talent based art was accentuated by Marcel Duchamp and Dada movement in the early 20th century, and reached its highest level with Andy Warhol. Hence, the concept of 'unique handmade artwork' left its place to the conceptual content of the work of art. Following a chronological path, this dissertation covers the artistic productions, technical quests of 20th century artists, and their interaction with technology.
