Transcription and evalution of the Muslim and non-Muslim population registers of the Sanjak of Harput, Çarsancak district numbered 2652-2653 (1250 h/1834)

In this research, two population registers of Harput Sanjak Çarşancak township, Muslim-non-Muslim, numbered 2652 – 2653 (h.1250), were translated from Ottoman Turkish to today's Turkish, protecting the original version of the registers. In these translated population registers, it was noted that the census was dated 1834. The Muslim notebook consists of 150 pages and the non-Muslim 100 pages. There are 3 towns, 1 sub-district, 94 villages, 1 neighbourhood and 17 hamlets in the Muslim register. The total number of households was determined as 2178 and the population as 5570. In the non-Muslim register, there are 3 towns, 59 villages and 1 hamlet. The number of households is 1546 and the population is 6011. Based on the information in the book, it has been determined that the connection of the villages, townships and hamlets, and there is no information about where some places are connected. The detailed information about population, age, nickname, occupation, disease, physical characteristics and land use are classified in tables. Important conclusions have been obtained about the demographic, economic, social and administrative structure of the Çarsancak district. The thesis consists of three parts. In the first chapter, information is given about the geographical and historical process of Harput and Çarsancağ. In the second part, first Muslim and then non-Muslim notebooks were evaluated. In the third part, transcripts of Muslim and non-Muslim notebooks were made.
