According to census papers Kırşehir Sandjak 1830 (Population and society)

At the beginning of the XIX century, The Ottoman Empire was a state which expanded the regions of land on three main continents. Over time, The Ottoman Empire was required to make innovations due to the problems resulting from the deficiencies in the state system. Especially, after the abolition of the Janissary Corps. and that a new army, called Asâkir-i Mansûre-i Muhammediye, was intended to set up raised the issue how to recruit new soldiers for the army. In this sense, the decision of census was taken in The Empire. In the light of census papers, we have discussed one of the first census papers numbered 3526 in this study. In this research, in line with Muslim census paper AH. 1246 (Gregorian 1830-1831) which is classified in the ottoman archives of the prime ministry, the demographic and social structure of the Kırşehir Sanjak, then which was connected to the city, Karaman, has been discussed. On that date mentioned above, people living under the Kırşehir Sanjak have been registered on Muslim Census Paper. The census was taken in 1246 AH. This date coincides with the date (Gregorian1830-1831) After the analysis of the census paper, it has been found out that there were 12 neighborhood, 4districts, 5 sub-districts, 1 township and 122 villages, totally 144 inhabited regions. Moreover; through this study, it has been collected data on the number of people living in these 138 regions, physical qualities of these people, their lines of descent, their age, their professions and their social status. By statistically analyzing the data in Muslim census papers, numbered 3526, it has been collected a great deal of valuable data on the demographic information of people living under the rule of Kırşehir Sanjak and social structure of them. Furthermore, according to related data in Census Papers, It has been discovered that one of the aims that Ottoman Empire wanted to achieve was to determine who could be recruited to army.
