Malnutrition prevalance and effecting factors among children aged between 0- 2 years old living in the region of 60 th Year Healt Center and the effects of education given to mothers on nutrion.

It is aimed to determine the prevalance of malnutrition and effecting factors among children aged between 0-2 years living in the region of 60 th year healt center and the effects of education given to mothers on nutrion in our study. First step of the study was a cross-sectional and the second was an intervention study. The population of the study was all children aged between 0-2 years-old living in 60.th health center region. The sample-size was determined as 643 and it has been reached 618 of them (%96.1). A questionaire including 76 questions about sociodemographic features,breastfeeding and complementary feeding were applied to 618 mothers. Then children?s weights and heights were measured and the references of World Health Organisation were used to evaluate malnutrition. The data were evaluated in SPSS 13.0. Malnutrition prevelance was determined as %2,2 (accoding to weight and height).Training sessions influenced significantly the z score after 6 months (p=0.001). After 1 year,the significance of measurements were remaning. Mother?s age,social activity,the number of live births,the number of pregnancy were affecting malnutrition prevelance significantly.Keywords: Breastfeeding, complementary feding, health education, malnutrition prevalence.
