Özet (EN)

Due to the increase in health services in the world and the decrease in fertility, the elderly population, which is called individuals over the age of 65, is higher than in previous years. With this increase, it will be inevitable that the number of elderly drivers in traffic will increase. In the traffic environment, old and young drivers exhibit different behaviors from each other. The reasons that affect the behavior of young and old drivers in traffic are driving skills, driving behaviors and self-regulatory behaviors. In addition, physical and cognitive problems negatively affect the safe driving of elderly drivers in traffic. Due to these physical and cognitive health problems, elderly drivers become both disadvantaged in traffic and prone to traffic accidents. Some precautions are taken regarding elderly drivers in the world. These measures are especially seen as driver license renewal applications. There are no special inspections regarding elderly drivers in Turkey, however, the condition of renewing their driver's licenses after a certain period of time is not sought. For this reason, in this study; Some recommendations have been developed for obtaining and renewing a driver's license in Turkey. In addition, a pilot study of 21 people aiming at self-evaluation of elderly individuals was conducted and the results were evaluated.
