Abstract (EN)

This study aims to examine the compatibility of the 8th grade mathematics curriculum with the 2021 High School Entrance Exam (LGS) questions, based on teachers' opinions. The main goal of the research is to understand and evaluate teachers' views on whether the mathematics curriculum coincides with the LGS exam. Within the scope of the study, 18 secondary school teachers working in Bornova District of Izmir Province were determined as a sample. This study is a case study from qualitative study methods. Data obtained through interviews and surveys with teachers were analyzed. Descriptive analysis technique was used in this study. The data of this research were obtained from the participants' demographic form and an 8-question semi-structured form. Participating teachers' opinions on whether the subjects and achievements in the curriculum were arranged to include LGS questions were evaluated. The findings of the research reveal that teachers generally show a tendency that the 8th grade mathematics curriculum is not compatible with the LGS exam. In particular, suggestions can be developed on the improvements and changes that should be made in the mathematics curriculum based on the deficiencies and incompatibilities stated by the teachers. This study can provide an important perspective for policy makers, curriculum developers and teachers in the field of mathematics education and provide information to evaluate the effectiveness of curriculum in terms of preparation for exams.
