Political activities of Herseme b. Ayen during the Abbasid period

Harthama b. A'yan is one of the important figures who contributed to the Abbasid State in military and political terms. Harthama was appointed to many important administrative and military duties by the Abbasid caliphs of his time, and he successfully fulfilled these duties given to him. Especially during the reign of Harun al-Rashid, he suppressed many rebellions and served as a governor in many regions of the Abbasid State; in the war between Amîn and Ma'mun, he sided with Ma'mun and fought against Amîn. During Ma'mun's period, he wanted to inform Ma'mun about the events and mischief that the Persian vizier Fazl b. Sahl was plotting behind the caliph's back, but Fazl, in his meeting with Ma'mun before that, ensured that Harthama was discredited by saying that he was a threat to the state. The Caliph treated Harthama badly when he came to meet him and wanted him imprisoned. He was killed in prison by Fazl ibn Sahl, who did not like Harthama and harbored hostility towards him. Harthama b. A'yan became an important figure in political and military terms in the first century of the Abbasids. He was one of the first names that came to mind when there was an uprising or a problem in a region within the borders of the Abbasid State. The reason for this was that in addition to his military and political success, he treated the people well in the regions where he served and won their hearts and became a person loved by the people.
