Determination of proficiency level of healthcare personnel for their modality of common forensic cases

The aim of the study was to determine the proficiency level of healthcarepersonnel (ATT and healthcare employees) regarding their modality for common forensic cases. For this purpose this current study was comprised of 404 healthcare personnel working at the emergency services of 6 state hospitals, 6 training and 6 research hospitals and 3 university hospitals in Ankara The data of the research has been indicated by the questionnaire in order to determine their knowledge and applications regarding their approaches to their descriptive characteristics and to the forensic cases. For the data evaluation of the study; Mann Whitney U test, Bonferroni correction Kruskal Wallis H test and Chi Square tests have been used. In this preliminary research, it is stated a lack of proficiency level of healthcare personnel working at the emergency services for their modality of common Forensic Cases. It has been found out that the majority of healthcare personnel have not received any formal training on forensic nursing and that those who have completed their postgraduate studies, or attended a forensic nursing training, or made use of resources on forensic cases, or analysed the cases at emergency services have been found to have significantly higher level of knowledge.
