ABSTRACT Gündem YAKAN, Determination of Colorectal Cancer Screening Attitudes and Screening of Fecal Occult Blood in individuals in living Gölbaşı district in Adıyaman province, Hasan Kalyoncu Üniversty Institute of Health Science Department of Nursing Master Thesis, Gaziantep, 2018. In this study, it was aimed to determine of Colorectal Cancer (CRC) Screening Attitudes with of Fecal Occult Blood (FOBT) test among individuals aged between 50 and 70. 563 individuals aged between 50 and 70 who presented to Adıyaman province to Gölbaşı district 2'nd family health center, family physician policlinic between March and May 2017 constituted sample of study. The factors that have been taken into consideration throughout this research are as follows; the socio-demographics of individuals colorectal cancer risk faktors. These factors have been scaled and evaluated using a survey form and this scale was applied with face –to- face interview technique. A research specialist has been appointed in order to determine the Body Mass Index (BMI). According to the obtained data, the average age of the individuals is 59.35±6.15 years 52.6% of them are female and 88.6% of them are married. The average of scores were taken from the sub-groups of Colorectal Cancer Screening Attitude and Belief Scale, have been found as (15.61±2.10) the average of scores for the care-consistency sub- group, (14.94±2.40) the average of scores for the social influence sub-group (10.18±2.20) the average of scores for the sense of sensitivity sub- group, (7.90±1.14) the average of scores for the response activity sub-group and (6.82±1.95) the average of scores for the cancer worry sub-group respectively. Factors effect on care and sense of consistency have been identified as being married (p=0.000). Factors effect on sense of sensitivity have been identified as to being educational status and gender (p=0.000). Factors effect on response activity have been identified as being educational status (p=0.001).Factors effect on cancer worry have been identified as to being working status and gender (p=0.000), (p<0.001). Within the scope of the study, the immunochemical fecal occult blood test (iFOBT) was performed on 563 individuals (%93.8) and 7.1% of the participants (n = 40) were found to be positive for the test result. Tubullovillous adenoma were diagnosed after colonoscopy to a person from individuals who were positive for (iFOBT) test results. CRC has an important place among cancer-related deaths. Population –based screenings should be performed to increase participation in CRC screening principally on individualls with high risk level. It is concluded that physicians and nurses working in Community Health Center, Family Health Center, and Cancer Early Diagnosis, Screening and Training Centers should give informational advices to the community and prepare training programs on CRC risk factors to increase the participation in CRC screenings will contribute to increase the screenings.
