Ahmed Reza Khan Birelvî life and works

In this study, which examines the life, works, and fatwas of Ahmed Riza Khan on certain issues in Islâmîc law, we observe that, like many other Islâmîc scholars, Ahmed Riza Khan was a prolific figure with expertise in multiple fields of knowledge alongside Islâmîc jurisprudence. Our study consists of three sections. The first section explores the biography of Ahmed Riza Khan. In this regard, aspects such as his birth, family background, scholarly training, the social and political context of his time, his struggles, and his passing are analyzed in detail. The second section provides an overview of some of Ahmed Riza Khan's works, primarily in the field of Islâmîc jurisprudence, as well as in various other disciplines. These works are categorized according to their respective fields of knowledge and introduced under relevant subheadings, accompanied by brief explanations. The third section seeks to determine Ahmed Riza Khan's scholarly authority within the Hanafi school of thought. This is followed by an analysis of the methodology he employed in issuing fatwas, concluding with a selection of his legal opinions.
