Characters in the Novels Named Paris'te Bir Türk, Yeryüzünde Bir Melek, Henüz On Yedi Yaşında and Dürdane Hanım of Ahmet Mithat Efendi

In this thesis, Ahmet Mithat Efendi's Paris'te Bir Türk, Yeryüzünde Bir Melek, Henüz On Yedi Yaşında and Dürdane Hanım were examined in the context of characters. First of all, it was given information about the properties of each novels and the subjects of them. Then, it was analyzed to characters according to degree of contribution to the plots of novels. Ahmet Mithat Efendi also took quite wide his characters repertoire in his novels like other Tanzimat novelists. This is evident in the four novels of the authors that mentioned in this thesis. Characters of his novel named Paris'te Bir Türk which written in 1876 were choosen from notonly Ottoman society but also French and Germany society lived in Paris. In 1879, he wrote a novel titled Yeryüzünde Bir Melek which included many characters from innocent lovers who were slandered to furious people because of jealousy and hatred. In his novel called Henüz On Yedi Yaşında published in 1881, he wrote about backslider women due to financial difficulty and devoting men for these wrecked women. By this way, he created various heroes from Turkish, Armenian, Greek of Turkish nationality. Dürdane Hanım which he wrote in 1882, also included lovers who have a bit on the side and people who take sides with good people side against bad people. Also Muslims, non-Muslims, spenders, alafranga appear in these novels.
