Abstract (EN)

With the development of technology, the use of industrial wood products in buildings has become widespread. It is preferred more in the buildings located in the earthquake zone due to its high performance especially against the destructive effects of earthquake forces. In order for the structures to withstand these earthquake loads, they must be built with certain rules. In Chapter 1; The purpose, scope and method of the study are explained. In this thesis, the historical development and applications of the United States (USA), Canada, European countries, Japan and Finland building regulations, which have advanced technologies and standards in the production of wooden structures in the world, were examined with the data obtained through literature research, and deficiencies in the development of codes parallel to the production of wooden structures in our country were determined. In Chapter 2; The general properties of wood material were mentioned and it was determined that it was advantageous for earthquakes because it was light, ecological and easy to apply. Traditional, advanced traditional and industrialized systems, which are wooden construction systems, were briefly examined and ended with the situation of wooden structures in the world and in Turkey. In Chapter 3; starting with the general explanation of the regulations, standards, specifications and codes, which are the building construction rules, the wooden building rules applied in the countries were passed. The situation of wooden buildings in Turkey, the regulations, specifications and standards that include the rules of wooden construction that have been in force throughout history have been examined. The history of Eurocode, which is accepted in several countries in Europe and the world, has been examined and Eurocode 5, which contains information about wooden structures, is explained. Canadian wooden building regulations were examined, the development of this regulation in the historical process and the way the buildings were implemented according to the codes in the regulation were explained. The development of the codes with the first adopted law in the USA is explained, the grouping examples in the regulation are given, the codes are explained. The Japanese regulation, BSL, is explained, its development and the rules applied for wooden structures are explained. The features of housing construction according to the Finnish national building regulations are explained and the country's future projects related to wooden structures are mentioned. In Chapter 4; The data obtained are presented in tables and evaluated. With these evaluations, forest stocks and wooden housing ratios are developed in the USA, Canada, Japan, Finland and European countries, which have a developed tradition of wooden construction, are competent in wooden construction, have traditional wooden architecture experience, and are at an important point in terms of wooden construction rules. specified. The development and implementation of the regulations, which are the set of rules to be followed in wooden construction applications in these countries, are presented in a table. The regulations and standards of the rules to be followed in wooden construction applications in Turkey are presented in a table. In Chapter 5; As a result of the data and evaluation, deficiencies in the development of the wood construction industry in Turkey and what needs to be done are discussed. It has been seen that TS 647 needs to be updated for the development of wooden construction production, and the developing wooden construction sector should be supported because wood is lighter than other building materials, ecological, sustainable and suitable for human nature. It has been concluded that the development will be more positive if the relevant ministry and other institutions are included in the process while preparing the building regulation in Turkey. It has been revealed that the rules covering traditional wooden structures should be added and improved in the Turkish wood regulations. In other researched countries, the construction of wooden structures has been facilitated with certain standards for low-rise and square meter structures that do not require standard engineering calculations. Thanks to the practicality of this grouping, the reconstruction of the structures after the earthquake can be completed in less cost and in a short time. It has been suggested that this can be used for single-storey houses to be built after the 6 February Kahramanmaraş earthquakes in the current situation in Turkey.
