The presentation of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant in the written press after the signing of agreement that intended to build the plant

Our country's energy need is growing consistently and nuclear energy looks as a serious alternative for supply this need and also energy security. On the other hand, an existing lack of information and information pollution about nuclear energy in community, complicates to understand and discuss the subject correctly. Therefore the presentation of Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant is an important responsibility of Turkish press. This study examines the presentation of The Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant in the written press throughout the next year after the signing of agreement that intended to build the first nuclear power plant of Turkey in Mersin Akkuyu between The Governments of The Republic of Turkey and Russian Federation. In this direction, news that published between the dates 12th May 2010 and 11th May 2011 in Cumhuriyet, Hürriyet and Zaman newspapers that chosen as a representative for written press, examined by content analysis.
