Reflections of Colonel Talat Aydemir's coup attempts and trial on Turkish press

The army, which served as the guardian of the political regime and reforms during the period of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, had to step out of this position and enter politics after İsmet İnönü became the President. The first mobilizations against the regime in the army started during the President of İsmet İnönü, but disintegred without active intervention in 1950, when the Democrat Party came to power through elections. The Democrat Pary, which was in power between 1950 and 1960, drew the reaction of the army with its negative activities after 1954, and revolutionary organizations were established for the first time in these years in order to overthrow the power. As a result of the development of the revolutionary organizations and the problems in the country becoming unberable, the first military intervention in the history of the republic, the Revolution of May 27, 1960 took place. Colonel Talat Aydemir, who was appointed as the War Academy Command after the coup; he made the first coup attempt on 22 February 1962 and failed, claiming that the coup failed to achieve its purpose, that Atatürk's principles and reforms could not be fulfilled, and that the political conflicts in the country did not come to an end. Talat Aydemir, who was retired with his friends after the coup attempt, believed that the country was dragged into a bad course and attempted a coup for he second time on May 21, 1963, but again failed. Talat Aydemir, who was tried after the second coup attempt, was executed together with his revolutionary friend Fethi Gürcan.
