Relationship between foot-ankle biomechanic structure and static balance ability of amateur football players and combat sports athletes

Abstract (EN)

The study was conducted in Rehabilitation Unit of Düzce University Health Research and Practice Center in July 2017– August 2017 to investigate relationship between Biomechanical Parameters of Ankle-foot Segment and Static Balance Skill in amateur football players and amateur fight sportsmen. 20 amateur football players (age 21.5±1.7 years, height 177.3±5.6 cm, body mass 71.5±6.9 kg) and 20 amateur fight sportsmen (age 21.5±1.7 years, height 177.3±5.6 cm, body mass 71.5±6.9 kg) participated to the study voluntarily. As Ankle-foot segment biomechanical parameters; foot types were classified using Navicular Drop Test, Active Ankle Range of Motion Degrees, Passive Subthalar Range of Motion Degrees and in Relaxed Standing Calcaneal Position were measured using metal goniometer. Static Balance Skill of participants was scored using Flamingo Balance Test. Furthermore to evaluate relationship between muscle force and static balance skill maximum voluntary concentric contraction torque of thigh and calf muscles scores were monitored using Isomed 2000 device. As a consequence of our study, it is found that there is no significant relationship between Ankle-foot biomechanical parameters and static balance skill according to Spearman correlation test results (p<0.005). According to Kruskal Wallis one way variance analysis there isn't any significant difference between average scores of static balance scores of foot types (p<0.005). According to Spearman correlation analysis, there isn't any significant relationship between maximum voluntary concentric contraction torque values and static balance scores (p<0.005). Between amateur football players and fight sportsmen, there isn't any significant difference in static balance scores according to Mann Whitney U-Test (p<0.05).
