Cultural memory in Anatolian minstrelsy: Eastern Anatolia field

Minstrelsy is a field of memory that enables the transmission of social values, moral codes and cultural heritage from generation to generation. The main purpose of the research is to reveal the function of folk tales, serencams and poems in the formation of cultural memory, based on the works of the representatives of Eastern Anatolian minstrelsy who lived from the 17th century to the 20th century. In this context, minstrelsy was examined through the methods of "intertextuality" and "literary semiotics"; narrative structures, value objects, actors and forms of memory transfer in folk tales were examined. Folk tales, which are the classification of minstrels, were discussed according to the "Narrative Program" model of Denis Bertrand, one of the present-day representatives of the Paris Semiotics School. With the subheadings of intertextuality, the commonalities found in the works of minstrels are determined and how they serve Turkish cultural memory is explained. In addition, the study evaluated the reflections of the relationship between individual and social memory on minstrelsy, and the factors shaping autobiographical memory were discussed within the scope of the feeling of "lack" and the "drawer" image. As a result, it has been tried to be revealed that the works of minstrels are a value that keeps cultural memory alive, reinforces social identity and plays a role in cultural transmission.
