Abstract (EN)
The study, which aims to determine the teaching model preferences of students in Anatolian high schools where German is taught as a second foreign language, was conducted using a descriptive research model. The study was conducted at Gaziler Anatolian High School in Kayapınar, Diyarbakır during the 2022-2023 academic year. The ages of the participants were between 14-18 and they were studying in 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grades. A total of 1332 participants, 783 girls and 549 boys, took part in the study. "Foreign Language Teaching Model Preference Scale" developed by Kabadayı was used as a data collection tool. The scale is a five-point Likert-type scale with 28 items and has an internal validity of 0.7074 and a reliability coefficient of 0.74. The data analysis was conducted by transferring the data to the SPSS 25.0 for Windows package program through Excel. Frequency techniques mean and standard deviation values were used in the data analysis. Independent Sample T-Test and One Way ANOVA tests were applied as the results showed a normal distribution. In the study in which traditional (grammar-translation and auditory-oral method) and modern teaching model (communicative and natural method) preferences were examined, it was found that the natural method was the most preferred teaching model by the students when the average of the scores given to each dimension was analyzed. Additionally, although demographic characteristics do not significantly affect students' teaching model preferences, they were found to have some influence.
