Abstract (EN)

Various rock units from Precambrian to Quaternary are exposed in the selected study area around Anamur, south of central Taurus. The rock units constitute different allochthonous masses in terms of stratigraphy, structural and metamorphic features. The rock unit groups present tectonic contact from each other and are represented by the Görbiyes Mount and Alanya units in the south and Aladağ unit in the north of the study area. The basement unit in the study area is represented by late Cretaceous Kızlarsekisi formation of Görbiyes Mount unit. The Mahmutlar nap which is a secondary nap in the Alanya unit -metamophosed in greenschist facies- includes Precambrian Tenzile formation, Early Cambrian Kurtbeleni formation, Middle Cambrian Karagedik formation, Late Cambrian- Early Ordovician Payallar formation, Late Permian Cebireis formation and Early Triassic Asmaca formation. The Sugözü nap of high- pressure/low-temperature ( HP / LT ) metamorphism is represented by the Sugözü formation. The Paleocene- Eocene Anamur formation unconformably overlies all the rock groups in the Alanya unit. The Aladağ unit, drifted onto the Alanya unit during the late Lutetian, are represented by Late Devonian Gölboğazı formation, Carboniferous Yarıcak formation, Permian Çekiçdağı formation, Triassic Gevne and Jurassic- Cretaceous Çakozdag formation. The Quaternary units overlie all the units with angular unconformity. It has been determined that the Early Cambrian quartzites have appropriate layers to be used in refractory, aerated concrete, ferro-chrome and steel industries. It has been also found that the Mid Cambrian dolomites are suitable for iron-steel industry but not for the glass industry.
