Determination of socio-economic faactors affecting consumers consumption of canned food in antalya province

Abstract (EN)

The goal of this study is to determine the socioeconomic factors affecting the canned food consumption in Antalya. The data of the study are collected through the 370 surveys prepared with the examination method from the people living in the central districts of Muratpasa, Konyaalti, Aksu, Kepez and Dosemealti of Antalya; moreover, factor analysis and discriminant analysis are used in the study. In order to determine the canned food consumption habits of people, 8 distinct factors are defined that make up for %56 of the variation. Reliability calculation is made on the data to be used for the factor analysis and the value calculated as 0,913 for the Cronbach's, which proves that the scale is reliable. Discriminant analysis and the pre-analysis numbers are used to see whether there was a difference between the families who buy canned food and those who don't. Average size of the families which consume canned food are 3,2, whereas of those which don't are 3,1 people. 24,9% of the families participated in the study are from Konyaalti, 38,8% Kepez, 28,3% Muratpasa, 4% Dosemealti and 4% are from the Aksu districts. Canned food consumption time of these families are also observed. 96,3% of those who consume canned food Express that they didn't realize their consumption time, also, 60,9% of them expressed consuming them during the breakfast, 49,5% lunch and 89,2% for the dinner. Those who consume the canned foods as snacks make up for 38,8%, consuming for special guests 67,1% and those who consuming during busy working schedules is 60,9%. It's a point of notice that it's seen that these customers, especially during the spring season, didn't buy canned food.
