Abstract (EN)

Objective: The aim of this thesis is to compare the adhesive systems containing antibacterial components and the antibacterial component-free in terms of cytotoxicity. Materials and Methods: In our study, five different adhesive systems were evaluated in terms of biocompatibility by direct contact method in cell culture medium. Four different dilutions of the test materials (1%, 0.1%, 0.01%, 0.001%) were added to the L929 mouse fibroblast cell culture medium and the effects of test materials incubated in three different time periods (24-48-72 hours) on cell proliferation were assessed by XTT test. . Two-way analysis of variance and Bonferoni post-test were used for statistical analysis. Results: It was observed that high doses of Gluma self etch adhesive system significantly decreased cell viability compared to control and there was no statistically significant difference in cell viability as the dose increased. However, toxicity was low even at the highest dose in all incubation times. Clearfil SE Bond and adhesive system significantly reduced cell viability compared to control at the highest dose (1%) in all incubation times. Peak Universal adhesive system significantly reduced cell viability compared to control at all doses. It is observed that Gluma 2 Bond significantly reduces cell viability in the highest dose (1%), and this decrease increases with time. For all incubation times of the Clearfil Protect Bond adhesive system, doses of 1% and 0.1% significantly reduce cell viability. Although both the 48 and 72 hour incubation levels of the materials differed significantly, they had similar effects. Conclusion: The antibacterial components added to adhesive systems had no negative effect on biocompatibility. It was observed that the highest dose was the most toxic dose in both the adhesive systems with antibacterial content and in the adhesive systems without antibacterial content, which increased with incubation time.
