Abstract (EN)
The art of Ancient Greek ceramics holds great cultural and historical significance. Thanks to the geographical location and rich resources of ceramic production centers in Anatolia, ceramic artisans in these lands played a crucial role in creating the unique style of Greek ceramics. These works, with their distinctive styles and aesthetic features, inspired subsequent civilizations. During the Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman periods, Anatolian ceramics, while developing their own style, carried the influence of Greek ceramics. Today, this cultural heritage continues to exist in contemporary ceramic art. Modern artists draw inspiration from works produced with Anatolian clay and techniques during the Ancient Greek period, incorporating new techniques and aesthetic approaches into ceramic production. This study aims to investigate the reflections of the Ancient Greek tradition in contemporary art from social and cultural perspectives, as well as within the context of current design trends. The primary goal of the research is to reveal the interactions between different cultures and civilizations and how creative processes in today's art have developed by using a comparative analysis method. This research seeks to examine the use, transformation, and reinterpretation of traditional elements in contemporary art. The study will explore the role of social and cultural interactions in contemporary art, the impact of cultural exchange on art and design, and its relationship with current art and design trends. Additionally, the study will investigate how the ceramic technology produced in the Ancient period can serve as a resource in the field of modern materials science and technology. This study aims to demonstrate the continuity of artistic and cultural elements across different civilizations and to identify how this cultural flow influences contemporary creative processes. Moreover, it will highlight how ancient ceramic technology can be a resource for modern materials science and technology. This study will provide valuable contributions to academics or researchers interested in understanding the sociocultural contexts of contemporary art and design, exploring cultural interactions, and comprehending how art and design have evolved from past to present.
