Al-jazâlah and al-riqqah in Arabic language and rhetoric

Rhetoric, which examines the rules of speaking clearly and flawlessly according to the addressee, is divided into three: "meaning, expression and embellishment". The science of Bedî', which examines the ways of beautifying the words and meanings of speech, is divided into two as spiritual beautifying arts and verbal beautifying arts. One of the beautifying arts related to meaning is the art of harmony. The art of harmony is a bedî' art that examines the harmony of the word with meaning, the harmony of the word with words and the harmony of meaning with meaning. al-jazâlah and al-riqqah are two important terms related to word-meaning harmony. This study consists of an introduction and three sections. In the introduction section, general information is provided about eloquence, the history of eloquence, and its components. In the first section, the dictionary and terminological meanings of the terms al-jazâlah and al-riqqah are examined. In the second section, verses that provide examples related to al-jazâlah and al-riqqah are analyzed. In the third section, poetic couplets that provide examples related to al-jazâlah and al-riqqah are examined. As a result, it has been determined that the term al-jazâlah conveys the meanings of strong and not weak words in terminological sense, while riqqah signifies flowing, sweet, and easy words."
