In the analysis of research data; chi-square, t test, Mann Whitney U test, ANOVA and Friedman test wereused. A significant difference was found between the groups in terms of VAS pain intensity in second week (VAS2) and percentage of pain relief in the second week and fourth week. In the aromatherapy group, there was a significant decrease in both pain intensity and percentage of pain relief. When aromatherapy and control groups were compared in terms of state-continuity anxiety scale scores; there was a statistically significant difference in both groups. The decrease in state-trait anxiety scores was higher in the aromatherapy group than in the control group. When the groups were evaluated in terms of sleep quality; there was a significant decrease in global PUKI sleep quality score in both aromatherapy and control groups; the decrease in the score in the aromatherapy group was found to be higher than in the control group.
