Kul Hamit Koca who was born in 1916 in Kahramanmaraş province, Afşin sub-province, Alemdar village is one of the badeli minstrels who were raised in land of poets , Kahramanmaraş. Kul Hamit who started writing poems after his sleeping on a dream at the age of 11 is one of our important minstrels saying improvisation poems without playing bağlama. Our minstrel was imam in some villages of Kahramanmaraş and was involved with agriculture and animal husbandary. Between the years 1936-1940 during his military service as sergeant, he drew the attention around him with the poem ?Teslim et Hatay?ı, çekil Fransız!? Kul Hamit, who used a clear language in his poems, considered art as a means to direct people to the beauty. As well as his poetry, he drew attention with hislong and detailed stories in a complex structure. Although he didn?t take a regular education, Kul Hamit had a very high level of professional knowledge and transferred it to his poetry in a form that anyone could understand. Died in 1978, buried in Afşin cemetery , our minstrel chose `Kul? as his pen name.
