Transcription and evaluation of the History of Asım (Volume II)

It is crucially important for those who are interested in any historicâl period to be able to read and understand historicâl works in their own language. Reading historicâl works in their own language will allow to better comprehend of the historicâl period and provide an opportunity to understand both using of grammar and writing style. The study at hand is based on the transcription of printed work of History of Âsım which is written in Ottoman Language. History of Âsım penned by Mütercim Âsım, who lived between 1755–1819, takes subject of politics-social history of early 19th century of Ottoman Empire. I have tried to analyse the main political, social and cultural aspect ofHistory of Âsım in the last chapter. This thesis does not only take subject with historicâl periods, but also provides a variety of information in which these are writers' autobiography, political view of writer and the Ottoman social life in the 19th century. Morever, it will be realized that Mütercim Âsim uses fashionable and wealthy Persian and Arabic words in his work and that makes his work viscous and hard to understand.
