Abstract (EN)

Throughout human history, humanity has always wanted to exceed its limits and has always pushed itself for this purpose. This situation revealed the exploratory side of people and enabled them to progress. Humanity has produced certain methods and tools to overcome every obstacle in its way, but when the time came, even the land they were on was not enough and they wanted to go beyond the seas. Thanks to this instinct of discovery, humanity has opened up to the seas and has also managed to turn the seas into an economic market. It should not be forgotten that there are cities that do not appear to have any connection with the sea, but when looked at closely, they could be port cities, such as the Ancient Cities of Aspendos and Perge examined in this study. The life and economies of both cities are similar to port cities. For this reason, it is essential to examine how cities establish relationships with the sea. In the first part of this study; The History of Ancient Maritime Trade and the goods carried on the ships used were mentioned. In the second part; Ancient maritime structures and units in the ports are included. In the third part; The cities engaged in maritime trade and their characteristics, livelihoods and the contribution of rivers to maritime trade are mentioned. Finally, in the fourth chapter; The historical geography of the Pamphylia Region, where the ancient cities of Aspendos and Perge, which are the subject of the research, are located, the ancient cities connected by the rivers on which they are located, the similar and different
