Özet (EN)

The Kanun-i Esasi of 1876 was an important turning point in the history of Turkish democracy and the parliament was opened for the first time. This parliament started its activities again in 1908 after the break in 1877. The parliament, which was dissolved on 21 December 1918 after the First World War, held the 1919 elections and it was officially closed on April 11, 1920, after a short period from January 12 to March 18. The Turkish Grand National Assembly, which was opened in Ankara on April 23, 1920, has been the most important step in the history of Turkish democracy and has continued its activities from this date until today. In this study, teacher-based deputies who entered the Turkish Grand National Assembly (1920 - 1938) during Atatürk's lifetime and the effects of these deputies to Turkish political, educational, cultural and social life were investigated. In this study; besides the questions of what is a teacher, a deputy, a parliament, answers were sought to the questions of who are the teacher deputies of the Atatürk period, what are the works of these deputies in and outside the parliament and their effects to Turkish political, educational, cultural and social life. In the first five periods, which are the subject of our study, teacher deputies are present in the parliament approximately 25% in the first and second periods, 33% in the third period, 35% in fourth and fifth periods, and an average of 30%. In this process, they have served in formed governments, participated in parliamentary commissions and commission work, and were involved in law-making processes. They also played active roles in the parliament by taking the floor, presenting comments and making proposals. In addition to these, they have also held various positions within and outside the state, and they have carried out actions. With all these duties and works, they have contributed to Turkish political, educational, social and cultural life.
