Abstract (EN)

The world population is increasing day by day and the number of vehicles used is increasing. Depending on the increasing number of vehicles all over the world, the use of vehicle tires is increasing day by day. After vehicle tires are used, they become a waste material and this waste material must be disposed of properly. Otherwise, some environmental problems arise. In addition, health problems arise. For this reason, waste tire is seen as an important problem today. In geotechnical engineering, the possibilities of using waste tires are being investigated with the studies carried out in this field, and many problems can be solved with lower costs thanks to their properties such as durability, high friction resistance and low density. Thus, it contributes both to the environment and waste material management. In addition, it contributes to the country's economy. In this thesis, the bearing capacity and settlement behavior of sand soils reinforced with waste tires under continuous foundation loads were investigated. In addition, the stability behavior of the sloped embankments formed by using sand soils reinforced with waste tires was analyzed for static and dynamic conditions. In the study, the analyzes were carried out using the PLAXIS computer program, which solves with the finite element method. Within the scope of the study, analyzes were carried out by mixing the sand soil with waste material at different rates(%0, %16.5, %29.16, %39.37, %50, %66.54, %100), and optimum mixing ratios and improvement depths that improve the bearing capacity and settlement behavior of the foundation soil were determined. In the slope analysis, optimum mixing ratios that increase the slope stability were determined for static and dynamic conditions. At the end of the study, according to the results of the analysis, it was determined that the use of waste tires with optimum mixing ratio both improves the bearing capacity and settlement behaviour and increases the slope stability on sand, and necessary suggestions for practical application are presented.
